John & Gwen
MCKEE
SOCIETY
Ensuring the Aurora Food Pantry will continue for generations to come
John McKee is a life-long resident of Aurora, Illinois and is a graduate of West Aurora High School and Beloit College. Gwen McKee was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was also a graduate of Beloit College.
The McKees have exemplified charitable giving, volunteerism and community support in Aurora
for decades.
In recognition of the legacy established by the McKees through a charitable bequest benefiting the pantry, and for their years of support, this planned giving society is named in their honor.
OPPORTUNITIES THAT BENEFIT YOU
AND THE PANTRY
WHY MAKE A GIFT TO THE
PANTRY’S ENDOWMENT?
The Aurora Food Pantry’s endowment provides
a stream of revenue for generations to come. An
endowment is different from outright donations.
Your gift, in any amount, is invested through the
Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
Each year, only a portion of the income is
spent; the rest is added to the original fund so it
continues to grow. Over time, it provides more
annual income to the pantry FOR PERPETUITY.
You receive the tax benefits of a one-time gift
while providing permanent, annual donations to
the pantry.
CHARITABLE BEQUESTS
The most common planned gift is a charitable bequest. A donor can make a Charitable Bequest via a trust or will. Contributions may include cash, real estate, life insurance, equity, or personal property. You can establish charitable bequest values in multiple ways:
General Bequest
A monetary gift paid out of your state by naming the pantry in your will
Residuary Bequest
A gift of what remains in your estate after you’ve provided for family and loved ones
Specific Bequest
A gift of a particular cash amount or item, such as property, pieces of jewelry, art, stamp collection, etc.
Charitable gift annuities offer a secure payment stream for yourself and/or a loved one for your lifetime. You will also receive tax benefits and the satisfaction of creating a lasting legacy through the Aurora Food Pantry.
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a tax-free trust that pays you or your beneficiaries an annual distribution: either a percentage of the annual value of the trust, or a percentage of the original gift amount.
